Sustainability at Boxlabo

Better choices, made into the brief.

Packaging has an impact before it is opened and after it is discarded. Our approach is to consider materials, structure, sourcing and end of life as one connected design problem.

Plan a responsible project

Our approach

Sustainability is a series of specific decisions.

There is no single material or label that makes every pack sustainable. The useful work happens in the specification: choosing the right amount of the right material, reducing complexity and planning what happens next.

01

Use better materials

Prioritise recyclable paper-based solutions, certified paper and board options, and lower-impact alternatives where the project allows.

02

Reduce by design

Right-size structures, remove unnecessary layers and make every insert, finish and component earn its place.

03

Design for after use

Consider separation, recyclability and disposal from the start, rather than treating end of life as an afterthought.

Materials with a reason

Natural fibres. Less plastic. Clearer choices.

We help clients compare materials by performance, finish and end-of-life route—not by appearance alone. The result should still feel premium, while using resources more deliberately.

  1. 01Specify certified or responsibly sourced paper and board options
  2. 02Replace plastic inserts with moulded paper or board where appropriate
  3. 03Prefer mono-material structures that are easier to separate and recycle
  4. 04Optimise size, board weight and construction to avoid excess material

Responsible sourcing

The forest is part of the supply chain.

For suitable projects, Boxlabo can specify FSC-certified paper and board through eligible production routes. Chain-of-custody requirements connect the forest-based material to the finished product and help keep sourcing claims credible.
